But what I found most affecting were all of the images of Jackie Kennedy, unwavering at LBJ’s side as he’s sworn in, kneeling at her husband’s flag-draped coffin with Caroline at her side, prompting her son John to salute as his father’s coffin passes, and finally, striding down the street leading from the White House to St.

O'Hare Thunderstorms and Sky Masterson

<dc:subject>The Thoughtful Truant</dc:subject>

I’m a blue-sky, smooth-air flyer, but even as I was saying Hail Marys through our ascent through bumpy clouds, I had to admire the beauty of the way the lightning backlit piles of clouds and occasionally pitchforked through them. Earlier, as my ten-year-old and I had waited in the crowded terminal, I had listened to a quick-witted JetBlue ticket agent try to put a positive spin on his ongoing explanations for the continued delays, and wondered what draws people to the often beleaguered aviation industry. Now, the view from my window made me think, as I often have before, that scenes like this have to be part of what makes it worth it.

...	And last weekend, I heard a great story that apparently is pretty well known if you’re into the Torah and Midrash--the latter being what Jewish sages write about what they think the Torah really meant.

... But he talked about the importance of recognizing fear, it’s impact, taking the leap and then, as you go through life, remembering how you took one leap to help you take another, and then another.

Off-the-Beaten-Track French Wines: the Midi Pyrénées

<dc:subject>The Thoughtful Truant</dc:subject>

That means last fall I, as part of my job, had to sip a truffle and pumpkin squash soup, while sitting next to the Ambassador of Armagnac (there are several, actually--oh, those French!).
